I didn't even know what his cancer looked like. It wouldn't come out to fight me. I would have traded my life for his. Wouldn't any parent? Cancer, the nemesis of all that was good was trying to take from me what it had no right to take, my son. Didn't God know that he couldn't give me something this beautiful and then take it back.

I finished this book in 2 days. I would have finished it in one day but I had to get some sleep! This does not read like a typical novel. I felt like the author was sitting next to me telling me about the frightening journey that he took with his son and daughters. I am left in awe of how he was able to (mostly) hold onto his emotions for the sake of his children throughout such an ordeal. You find out at the very beginning of the book that he is a single parent and had to do this alone. I kept stopping to look at his picture on the back cover. What an amazing man. What a fabulous father! The relationship that he has with his son is so honest and beautiful. I loved loved loved this book!Product details

Honest, moving and I was unable resist turning each page. I could not put it down. Loved the way it went from a scene in the happital to a memory of the Sicilean family and their hilarious antics ...... I book I will hold dear forever!!!!

Being a single parent Mr.Triolo juggled the realities of Raising a family with three children.Then he was forced to handle the incredible horror of his son being struck with childhood cancer..I am a construction worker and it brought a tear to my eye....
I just finished reading this wonderful book. I could not put it down! it makes you laugh, cry and be thankful for all the loving people in the world. I highly recommend the book to anyone. I am going to recommend it as a reading program at the college where I am employed. Congratulations Mr. Triolo on writing a great book about love between a father and a son.
Such a touching and heartfelt story of a strong love and bond between a man and his son that got them through a long and difficult battle with cancer. Very well written, easy read and very difficult to put down. I'm ready for part two.
Reading this book made me feel like I was listening to Joe tell his story over a cup of coffee and a huge box of Kleenex. It seemed like I was right there on the rollercoaster ride fate dealt him and his son. He brought to light the many emotions of those that are going through the horrors of cancer , and the determination he and his children had to persevere when the odds weren't in their favor. Kudos to Joe and his kids for sticking together in the face of adversity and abandonment. This book is an inspiration to live everyday to the fullest.
